Ode to the Earth
What attracted me to create Landscape outside Window was the idleness of life, a lifestyle I always looked forward to. I wanted to see landscape through the canvas.
In the north, there are vast plains, mountains and hills. Farmlands and highways integrate harmoniously. The land takes on a different look in different seasons, and people can enjoy a different view if they choose a different angle.
Apricot yellow, medium yellow, orange, Napoli yellow, sage green, light green, ochre and red prevailed. I carefully looked for visual signs showing changes in colors. And structural changes followed afterwards. The nature decorated the surface of the earth at its own pace. So here came the farmlands, mountain forests, sunflowers, wheat fields, fruit trees and distant mountains…At this point I felt I was closely connected with the pulse of the nature, for colors and forms were like the heart of the earth…
The characteristics of oil paints perfectly highlighted the texture, passion and warmth of colors. Colors mixed together and then separated. So did the brush strokes. They collectively composed an ode to the earth. There was no rule in this field.
Days I spent in front of the canvas witnessed fabulously varied brush strokes and magnificent fantasies. I believe there were many secrets hidden in canvas as well as in the nature. I wanted to explore, discover and represent them. As the brushes interacted with the canvas, secrets revealed themselves and then returned to calmness.
Different expression approaches were highlighted in different phases. Sometimes it was sentimental, for memory played a part.
